Celebrating the Natural Wonders in Our Own Backyard

Created by Local Students, Inspired by Our Wetlands, Chosen by Our Community

Warriewood Square is proud to present the Wetland Wonders Artwork Campaign, a community celebration of the natural beauty that exists right here in our own backyard.

Created by local students, inspired by our unique wetlands and chosen by our community, the exhibition showcases the creativity, talent and environmental awareness of students from Narrabeen North Public School and Elanora Heights Public School. Through colourful and imaginative artworks, students have captured the native plants, animals and landscapes that make the Northern Beaches wetlands such a special part of our local environment.

Now on display at Entry 2 (near the former St. George branch), the exhibition has already received an overwhelming response, with hundreds of community votes cast in support of the young artists. Families, friends and local residents have embraced the opportunity to view the artworks, celebrate local talent and participate in the People's Choice voting competition.

Narrabeen North Public School

Flora and Fauna

Collaboratively created by students in Years 3–6 at Narrabeen North Public School and led by teacher Mrs Giannoulis, Flora and Fauna is a vibrant homage to the Warriewood Wetlands. Inspired by the unique plants and animals of this special environment, the artwork invites viewers to explore the wetlands' beauty and diversity through a kinetic agamograph design.

From one perspective, the artwork depicts the striking Superb Fairywren; from another, it reveals the stunning Irrawong Waterfall. The piece is crafted with oil pastel on cardboard, enhanced with shimmering sequins and PVA glue for added texture and sparkle.

Flora and Fauna celebrates artistic creativity, teamwork and a shared appreciation for the natural wonders of the Warriewood Wetlands.

Elanora Heights Public School

Wetlands at Dawn

Wetlands at Dawn captures the beauty and wildlife of the Warriewood Wetlands as the day begins. At dawn, the trees come alive with a chorus of birds welcoming the new day. Rainbow lorikeets flit through the leaves, honeyeaters search for nectar and galahs play amongst the branches. Water dragons bask on sun-dappled grass, while possums retreat to their shelters after a night of foraging. The early morning light reveals the vibrant activity and natural beauty of this unique local environment.

Created by students from Elanora Heights Public School, the artwork celebrates the rich biodiversity of the Warriewood Wetlands and encourages the community to appreciate and protect the natural wonders in our own backyard.
